More of the bird
A chicken is more than a breast and a thigh.
Modern food has a peculiar way of separating us from the whole animal. We buy breasts. We roast thighs. We cook wings.
But those familiar cuts are only part of the bird.
At Windy Meadows Family Farm, the backs and liver have a purpose too. The chicken backs are ground with the raw bone included and combined with liver to make this simple supplemental food for pets.
Nothing fancy. Just another way to make good use of more of the chicken.
Meet the Farmers
Mike & Connie Hale
Windy Meadows Family Farm began in 2001 with a simple desire to put good chicken on their own family's table.
What began as food for their own family grew into more than two decades of raising poultry for other families too.
Poultry remains at the heart of Windy Meadows today.
Over all those years, Mike and Connie have accumulated something that is difficult to capture on a package: experience.
Weather changes. Pasture changes. Feed changes. Birds behave differently from one season to another. Problems have to be noticed and solved.
That kind of knowledge comes from being there, day after day, responsible for the animals in your care.
