BEHIND THE FOOD

Before the chicken,
there was a family.

In 2001, Mike and Connie Hale started Windy Meadows Family Farm in Campbell, Texas, because they wanted truly good chicken for their own family.

They were raising eight children on 42 acres, and the farm grew up alongside them. The children learned the work because it was part of everyday life. Today, many of them have returned as adults to help carry the farm forward.

What began with one family trying to raise better chicken for its own table became a farm feeding families well beyond their own.

THE WORK BEHIND IT

Good chicken begins
long before the kitchen.

Windy Meadows Family Farm raises its chickens on pasture in mobile shelters that are moved to fresh ground every day. That movement gives the birds new pasture to walk, scratch, and forage instead of spending their lives on the same patch of ground.

The chickens at Windy Meadows receive non-GMO, soy-free, and corn-free feed and are raised without antibiotics. What they find on pasture is part of the picture; so is what goes into the feeder.

Windy Meadows Family Farm processes its chickens on the farm in its own USDA-inspected poultry facility. The Hale family keeps that final step close, so the same operation that made the decisions about pasture and feed remains responsible through processing.
